This Diploma comprises the following modules:

    An introductory course enabling participants to understand the various aspects of the air cargo industry and its products, including:

  • The concepts and intricacies of handling air cargo
  • The basic aircraft types, unit load devices and an awareness of the equipment used in air cargo transportation
  • The various documents used in air cargo
  • Airline Passenger Handling

    This programme covers the basic functions of a passenger service agent at the airport, including:

  • The basic areas of airport operations such as check-in
  • Industry rules and procedures
  • How baggage is processed and the procedure for mishandled baggage claims
  • The key aspects of customer service
  • Ramp Handling

    This course is designed for those that wish to take up a career in aircraft ramp handling. It equips students with general knowledge of the air travel industry, with an emphasis on the ground operations aspects of aircraft handling. Modules cover topics such as:

  • The principles of weight and balance, type of load, weight limitations of an aircraft, ULD (Unit Load Device), and load processing
  • Documentation used in ground operations and basic load planning skills
  • Calculations related to load in an aircraft hold and safety on the ramp
  • Reservations, Fares and Ticketing

    An introduction into the air travel industry, supported by awareness on basic reservations using the Sabre GDS system. Modules include:

  • Itinerary creation
  • Fare construction for one-way, round trip and special fare journeys, and issuance of airline tickets for one-way and return journeys
  • The working of an airline reservations system
